CommentPiG Filter Settings

The filter settings give you complete control over which comments actually end up being posted to your blog.

Perhaps the most important filter is Keyword in Comment. This ensures no comment is posted unless it contains the actual target keyword from your post. This greatly increases the accuracy of the post but also reduces the number of comments that can be posted. Autoblogs may want to leave this setting off whilst other blogs should probably have it switched on.

You can also filter the comment size by a minimum & maximum amount of words. This is very good for filtering Yahoo Answers & FriendFeed comments which can often be very lenghty. You can choose whether comments that are too long are either skipped or trimmed to size. I recommend you trim.

The word filter can contain a list of words that should never appear in comments. Comments containing any word from this list will be dropped and not published.

The account filter contains a list of names that you do not wish commentpig to harvest comments from. For instance I post comments on other blogs with the username blogpig so I would enter that here to prevent commentpig adding my own comments from other blogs to this blog. You can also enter the name of s twitter account to filter out all it’s tweets if you are tweeting your blog posts and comments.

The strip links filter removes any HTML links from the comment leaving the anchor text in place.

Save your settings when done.
